Mr Haddock

Another 4 books read in this series. The action continues...

Our family added decoration at the gateway to commemorate ANZAC Day.

Day #21 of lockdown and I've finished the first book in this 12 book series. Suit a reader of 12+ reading age who likes action , adventure and some mystery. Easy to be hooked! I'm passing it on to my boy Karl.

Day 19. I enjoyed reading this book too.
Reminded me of hunting days with my uncle in the Kaimai Ranges. Adventurous.

Day 16 of lockdown and I had a quick read here. It is by NZ author Des Hunt. It caught my attention too because there is a Cody in Ruru class and he likes fishing.

My next read was Alpha Force 'Blood Money' by Chris Ryan
More suited to the teenage reader.

If you like getting straight to the climax of a story, these books by Jack Heath are worth a read.
There are 10 short stories, each 20 minutes of danger, making the 200 minutes for the entire book.
You can also get 300 minutes, 400 minutes and 500 minutes of Danger if you want the action to last a bit longer.

Finished reading this book by Sandy McKay. I have read another book by this author titled - "Recycled".
Fits in nicely with enviroschools as a fictional chapter book with a New Zealand setting.

Teddy keeping watch from our house window.

Our cat Pouncer is happy to have a food supply.

  1. Day 3 of Lockdown:
One of those gardening type days during the day. Played a board game with the family in the evening. The name of the game is "Absolute Balderdash". It's a bluffing type game which had us all in stitches of laughter at times.
Outside in the starry chill of the night, I heard two moreporks calling to each other. Pretty cool having Ruru visit the township. Can't say I've ever heard them in town before.

  8. Worth a read. I wonder how people might show their support for ANZAC day this year. We are going to stand at our gateway at 6 am. We want to put some poppies on our fence and gate.

    1. Hi Aurora.
Remember it takes time to settle into a new school. Things are 'different' and that takes getting used to.
As Dr Seuss said... Sometimes you don't know the value of something, until it is a memory'.
Hope to see you sometime. Mr H :)
