ANZAC Biscuit and Feijoa Muffin Making

Today we made great use of fruit from feijoa trees.
Thanks everyone who contributed! (including fruit from the school trees)😊
The Anzac biscuit recipe also worked a treat.
See us use technology in our recipe learning.
Teamwork skills - participating and contributing were a big part of the day.
Thanks Mrs Thomson for organising the experience!

New Lives Animal Rescue

Yesterday, Te Whare Ruru enjoyed a special afternoon visit by Donna from New Lives Animal Rescue in Te Aroha. She brought with her two special guest dogs. Harvey a three legged chocolate coloured labrador and a puppy named Brandy.
We learnt safety around dogs and how it is important to ask permission from any dog owner before petting their dog.. Also, to pet the dogs under their front chin and chest instead of on top of their head. We practised dropping to the ground and turning into a "rock" to help protect us if ever attacked by a dog.

Putt for the $

Not only did Te Whare Ruru have a shared experience this morning of trying out their putting skills with a golf club, they used this experience in their recount writing. The aim of the challenge was to putt the ball so that it stopped on the cardboard disc. Should it do so, you would win the amount shown on the card.
Great try everyone  - there were a number of very close putts that had us quite excited! A potential Harvest Festival activity for Friday evening.

Thanks St Joseph's School Waitara

This morning our class was very excited to receive a courier post package from Room 5 at St Josephs Waitara. We read through their poster and passed around their postcard metaphors. At lunchtime Rylee put together their postcard jigsaw. (see below)

#GET WRITING NZ

We have completed a project that connects with another school in NZ - St Joseph's Waitara in the Taranaki region. We collaboratively worked together on a poster that had questions about who we are as a class and a school. We wrote metaphors about ourselves on postcards. We put these together as a jigsaw puzzle and they made a big message "Talk with people who help you see the World differently"
😏
Postcards as a jigsaw
A poster about who we are and our environment

Happy to have completed the project

SumDog Competition

Our class took part in the Waikato Contest. We tried really hard throughout last week and managed to be leading on Wednesday. When the contest closed on Thursday evening we were 3rd overall!!
Our best student placed 21st out of 334 competitors. Well done Nina!
